Google Chrome Emergency Update Patches 74 Flaws, Including an Exploited Zero-Day
Google has just rolled out an emergency update for its Google Chrome browser. It fixes 74 vulnerabilities, including a zero-day flaw (CVE-2026-11645) that is already being exploited by cybercriminals. Here’s what you need to know.

The main threat: CVE-2026-11645
This security update for Google Chrome patches more than 70 security flaws. Among these vulnerabilities is CVE-2026-11645. Discovered in the V8 JavaScript engine (as is often the case, in fact) of Google Chrome, it was reported to Google on April 27, 2026. The researcher behind this discovery also received the nice sum of $55,000.
The special thing about this flaw is that it is a zero-day because it is already being exploited according to Google. "Google became aware of the existence of an exploit for the CVE-2026-11645 vulnerability in the wild," we can read.
To protect users, Google has not provided technical details about this vulnerability. However, we do know that it is an out-of-bounds memory access bug, according to Google’s security bulletin. In the worst case, this could lead to arbitrary code execution in the browser.
A wave of 17 critical vulnerabilities
Google did not specify whether AI may have helped discover some of the flaws, but that is quite possible for several reasons:
- Many vulnerabilities were discovered internally by Google,
- These vulnerabilities affect a very wide variety of components in Google’s browser,
- And above all, the number of vulnerabilities is high: 74 flaws fixed in this update alone.
Beyond this zero-day flaw, this Chrome update stands out for an unusual volume of critical security issues. In fact, 17 vulnerabilities have been classified as critical and were found in many components of Google’s web browser.
How do you apply this essential update?
Google has already begun rolling out new versions as of June 8, 2026:
- Chrome 149.0.7827.102/.103 for Windows and macOS,
- Chrome 149.0.7827.102 for Linux.
If you want to force the update on your machine, the steps are simple:
- Open Chrome’s main menu (the three vertical dots in the top-right corner),
- Go to Settings,
- Click About Chrome in the side menu.
