Synology Unveils the FS200T, Its New All-Flash NAS
Synology has just announced the official launch of the FS200T, its brand-new NAS that relies entirely on flash storage. What are the features of this compact unit? Here’s what we know about this new model.
An ultra-compact and quiet form factor
When you see this new NAS in photos, it is clear that this is a Synology model. It has the look. What you do not immediately see is its ultra-compact form factor. It is particularly small, as shown by its dimensions: 121 x 151 x 175 mm, for 1.4 kg. The FS200T was designed to fit on a desk or at home without taking up too much space.
Beyond the small footprint it occupies, this NAS would have another advantage according to Synology: it is said to be particularly quiet. However, it is not fanless, since it includes an 80 mm fan.
Inside the FS200T
The Synology FS200T is a fast solution built entirely around flash storage. However, Synology did not choose to go with NVMe drives: this NAS is compatible only with SATA drives. This is likely a good compromise between cost, performance, and usable storage capacity.
Concretely, here is this NAS's technical specification:
- Drive bays: it has six 2.5" drive bays dedicated to SSD storage.
- Network connectivity: it includes two network ports, one 2.5 GbE and one 1GbE. Nothing less would do.
- Processor: Intel Celeron J4125, with 4 cores and 4 threads.
- RAM: it comes with 4 GB DDR4, which can be expanded up to 8 GB.
- Connectivity: it features 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Personally, I would have preferred being able to install NVMe SSDs in this chassis, but Synology chose a different positioning. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this choice.

Now available, the FS200T NAS is of course compatible with Synology's DSM operating system. Find all the information on the Synology website.
